As an Indigenous photographer, Trevor Jansen connects with his heritage and community through his camera lens — representing his subjects as modern, diverse, and strong.
As a person of Gitksan heritage but raised outside of Indigenous culture, Trevor has long been interested in the process of reconciliation. He has worked with urban Native youth outreach programs, Indigenous festivals and business owners.
Getting to know each subject and their connection to the land is part of his journey. Each portrait represents a relationship achieved through rapport, connection and sensitivity.
